Our story begins in 2012, with a dream to brew real ale. Following redundancy and a period of job hunting, Anthony Hughes decided to turn a dream into reality. With a retailing background and a keen interest in home brewing, Anthony began creating the recipes of the core range for Lincoln Green in the garage of his home in Mapperley, Nottingham. Training at Brewlab in Sunderland and Nottingham University helped develop a greater understanding of the science of brewing consistent, quality real ales.
Lincoln Green takes its name from the colour of dyed woollen cloth associated with the legend of Robin Hood. Proud to be brewing in Nottinghamshire and proud of the county’s strong brewing heritage, the company aims to operate in an environmentally aware manner, with a controlled delivery radius and sourcing goods and services from local businesses whenever possible.
We're very much focused on our core range, each named with a respectful nod towards Nottinghamshire's legendary hero:
Marion 3.8% Pale Ale
Hood 4.2% Best Bitter
Archer 4.4% American Pale Ale
Tuck 4.7% Porter
In 2014, Lincoln Green Public House Company was created, with the opening of The Robin Hood (AND) Little John in Arnold, Nottingham. A second pub, The Sir John Borlase Warren, was taken over by Lincoln Green in May 2015 and has rapidly developed a strong reputation within a highly competitive area of Nottingham City Centre.
In February 2017 our flagship pub, The Station Hotel, was refurbished in our home town of Hucknall representing our 'brewery tap', being just half a mile away from our brewery location. In April 2018 we opened our first truly 'free house', The Brickyard at Carlton.
All our pubs operate with a shared approach, focused on traditional British pub heritage and values, the company has a simple philosophy:
We believe in 'proper' pubs
We're always welcoming
We're proud to serve real ale
Our aim is to open a minimum of ten pubs over the next seven years.
